What does the day look like?
You work inside CVAT, Labelbox, Prodigy, Label Studio, or Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth. A task may involve drawing 2D boxes or polygons around objects, transcribing audio word for word with timestamps, or reading 1 prompt and 2 model answers and scoring them on a 5-point scale for factuality, instruction-following, safety, conciseness, and tone. Teams use Slack or Discord for updates and Jira for disputes.
About 30% of the day is the attractive part: judging model answers and showing an AI what a good response looks like. The other 70% is reading 50 to 100 pages of rules, taking unpaid screening tests, refreshing empty queues, correcting rejected work, and making thousands of repeated clicks. Hours are not guaranteed. Central Asian annotators often work from 22:00 to 04:00 Tashkent time to catch batches before quotas close.
