What does the day look like?
Around 35% of your working time is spent interviewing department heads, operators, and users to elicit requirements. Another 30% goes into writing detailed specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Jira and Confluence, as well as modeling business processes in BPMN 2.0 using Lucidchart or Miro. You spend 20% of your day collaborating with developers and QA engineers during standups and backlog refinement, and the remaining 15% verifying delivered software through User Acceptance Testing (UAT). You also inspect databases using SQL and test API payloads with Postman.
This is not about drawing user interfaces or coding algorithms. Most of the work consists of resolving conflicting business rules, reading compliance policies, and translating non-technical requests into unambiguous technical requirements. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 (40 hours per week). There are no regular night shifts, though occasional late evenings occur during major software releases.
Will AI replace this job?
ILO 2025 exposure index: 0.49, gradient 2. This is not a forecast that the job will disappear. It measures task-level technical exposure to AI. The ILO places ISCO-08 2511 Systems Analysts in an augmentation profile, not a displacement profile: AI is expected to speed up parts of the work more than remove the whole occupation.
The exposed part is about 45% of the day: writing specifications, process models, first drafts of user stories, Gherkin acceptance criteria, requirements documents, UAT test scripts, test data sets, and release or user documentation. The less exposed or unexposed part is about 55% of the day: getting requirements from stakeholders, resolving conflicting demands, reading unstated business constraints, negotiating across departments, and working with developers and QA engineers on live edge cases and trade-offs. OECD 2018 maps ISCO 2511 to an automation risk of approximately 21%, below the 70% high-risk threshold and inside the low-to-moderate risk band. WEF 2023 does not list Systems Analysts among declining occupations; it lists Business and Systems Analysts among net-growth roles through 2027.
What do you need to start?
There is no legal license required to practice as a Business Analyst in the private sector. However, over 85% of corporate employers require a Bachelor's degree, and international work visas (such as the UK Skilled Worker, German EU Blue Card, and US H-1B) strictly require a recognized degree. Relevant fields of study include Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Economics.
Certifications cannot legally replace a university degree for foreign visa issuance, but they provide a strong competitive edge. Entry-level candidates can earn the IIBA ECBA (requires no prior experience) or IREB CPRE-FL. Advanced credentials include IIBA CCBA (requires 3,750 verified work hours) and CBAP (requires 7,500 hours).

Where can you actually work?
The role is in high demand within Uzbekistan across fintech platforms and banks such as Uzum, Click, Payme, TBC Bank, and Kapitalbank, as well as IT Park outsourcing companies. Local monthly salaries range from UZS 5,000,000 to UZS 8,000,000 for junior roles, UZS 12,000,000 to UZS 20,000,000 for middle roles, and UZS 20,000,000 to UZS 35,000,000+ for senior analysts in leading fintech firms.
Remote work for US or EU employers from Uzbekistan is possible via B2B contracts or Employer of Record platforms like Deel. However, foreign employers almost exclusively hire remote analysts at the Middle or Senior level. They require C1 English, strong SQL, BPMN 2.0, and Jira skills, and time-zone overlap. Direct visa sponsorship to relocate abroad from Uzbekistan is generally limited to senior professionals with over 5 years of specialized domain experience.
Where are the jobs posted?
In Uzbekistan, vacancies are posted on HeadHunter Uzbekistan (hh.uz), the IT Park jobs portal (job.it-park.uz), and IT Community Telegram channels. In Poland, key portals include Pracuj.pl, Just Join IT (justjoin.it), and No Fluff Jobs (nofluffjobs.com). In Germany, listings are found on StepStone (stepstone.de), the Bundesagentur für Arbeit portal (arbeitsagentur.de/jobsuche), and IT-Jobs.de. UK and Irish openings appear on CWJobs (cwjobs.co.uk), Jobserve (jobserve.com), and IrishJobs.ie, while Australia uses SEEK (seek.com.au). Global remote roles are found on LinkedIn Jobs and Upwork.
Most junior listings on national boards like SEEK, StepStone, or Pracuj.pl filter out applicants without existing local work permits. Overseas applicants applying directly from Uzbekistan can secure visa sponsorship primarily for Senior positions through LinkedIn or international consultancies like EPAM Systems, Accenture, and the Big 4.
How much English, honestly?
For university admission, undergraduate programmes in the UK, Ireland, and Australia require IELTS Academic 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each component) or TOEFL iBT 90. Polish English-taught programmes require IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72, and the UAE requires IELTS 6.0. German-taught degrees in Germany require TestDaF Level 4 (4x4) or Goethe-Zertifikat C1.
While an IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 score secures university entry, the actual job requires solid CEFR C1 proficiency (equivalent to IELTS 7.5 to 8.0). As a Business Analyst, you must write unambiguous software specifications, debate complex logic with solution architects, and negotiate scope with executive stakeholders without language barriers. In non-Anglophone countries like Germany or domestic Polish enterprises, local C1 fluency is required alongside English.
