What does the day look like?
Around 40 percent of your day is spent on post-production and sound design. You edit multi-track recordings in Avid Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Cockos Reaper, or Descript, repair background noise with iZotope RX, add music beds, and balance loudness levels to -16 LUFS for stereo or -19 LUFS for mono. Another 30 percent goes to pre-production: researching episode angles, drafting interview briefs, booking guests, and conducting pre-recording tech checks.
The remaining 15 percent covers live recording sessions on Riverside.fm or SquadCast while monitoring audio levels and directing the host, and 15 percent goes to distribution, including writing show notes and uploading master files to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube Music. Standard hours are 40 hours per week, but irregular schedules arise when recording across time zones or finishing edits before release deadlines.
