What does the day look like?
Work centers on handling an incoming queue of tickets, phone calls, and live chat requests inside ticketing systems like Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or Zendesk. Daily duties include unlocking accounts and resetting MFA tokens in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) or ADUC, verifying employee identities, configuring Windows 11 Pro and macOS laptops via Microsoft Intune, testing DHCP, DNS, and VPN connections, and fixing Microsoft 365 desktop errors across Outlook and Teams.
Only 15% of the day involves the technical debugging beginners imagine, such as analyzing network logs or running PowerShell commands. The other 85% is customer service, identity verification, ticket documentation, hardware swaps, and guiding non-technical staff through basic steps. The schedule frequently uses rotating shifts (such as 08:00 to 16:30 or 12:00 to 20:30) or 24/7/365 rosters with 8-hour or 12-hour night and weekend shifts governed by strict SLAs.
