What does the day look like?
A standard work week takes 40 to 50 hours in an office setting. Only 15% of your time is spent on technical evaluation, such as reviewing CDR design changes, thermal and payload margin trade-offs, and flight anomaly reports. The other 85% of your time is consumed by administrative, budgetary, and stakeholder management. You audit budget variances using EVMS, draft subcontractor statements of work (SOW), conduct risk mitigation meetings, and brief institutional clients.
Your day-to-day software stack includes Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS, PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Monte Carlo risk simulation tools, SAP ERP, and Deltek Costpoint. Shift work, night shifts, and on-call duties occur during thermal vacuum (TVAC) and vibration test campaigns, launch site integration, countdown rehearsals, and early orbit phase (LEOP) operations.
