What does the day look like?
A game design intern works 37.5 to 40 hours per week during core studio hours, typically 09:00 or 10:00 to 18:00 or 19:00, Monday to Friday. There are no scheduled night shifts and no emergency on-call duties.
Between 90% and 95% of the working day is technical studio maintenance: balancing variables in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets such as recoil, experience curves, cooldowns, and drop rates, importing data into Unreal Engine 5 or Unity, greyboxing levels, participating in 15-minute Jira Agile/Scrum standups, and logging bug tickets. Creative ideation and playing games account for only 5% to 10% of your time.
