What does the day look like?
Work follows a standard 40-hour week divided between an office and a robotics lab. Only 20% of your time is spent on algorithmic tasks, tuning SLAM, and planning vehicle paths. The largest share, roughly 45% of the day, is spent debugging C++ concurrency and memory leaks, fixing Linux network latency, resolving sensor timestamp drift, and maintaining integration tests.
Another 20% of your day involves running digital-twin simulations in Gazebo or Isaac Sim, analyzing field telemetry logs, and writing VDA 5050 fleet messaging logic. The remaining 15% is dedicated to ISO 3691-4 safety compliance paperwork and code reviews. Site visits to live warehouses require wearing high-visibility vests and steel-toe boots around moving machinery, with occasional on-call shifts to triage live operational failures.
