What does the day look like?
The workweek spans 45 to 55 hours. The day starts early, typically at 07:00 or 07:30, with shift handover meetings alongside supervisors to review the last 24 hours of output, downtime, and safety incidents. The job requires 24-hour on-call availability for major line stoppages, machine breakdowns, or workplace safety emergencies.
Walking the floor and observing machinery takes only 15% to 20% of the day. The remaining 80% to 85% is spent in the office on spreadsheet modeling, labor scheduling, tracking OEE metrics, and working with enterprise systems like SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Siemens Opcenter, alongside handling worker grievances and maintenance plans.
