What does the day look like?
Your shift takes place on the plant floor and in the factory laboratory. Only 15% of the day involves formulation trials and testing pilot batches. The remaining 45% is spent taking raw material samples and measuring routine physical-chemical parameters (pH, Brix degrees, density, moisture, viscosity, and temperature), 25% on clean-in-place (CIP) sanitation cycles and equipment calibration, and 15% on reconciling standard operating procedures (SOPs), logging shift data, and entering batch records into LIMS, SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing, or Siemens SIMATIC IT.
Industrial production runs 24/7, so work is structured in rotating 8-hour or 12-hour shifts covering mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends. The job requires standing on concrete floors, wearing hearing protection in noisy production halls, adapting to temperature shifts from 4 degrees Celsius cold rooms to hot boiler areas, and wearing PPE including safety goggles, nitrile gloves, and steel-toe boots.
