What does the day look like?
Live teaching takes up about 35% of your working time, covering test sections across Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Around 30% of the day goes to marking mock tests, grading essays against official IELTS band descriptors, and running 1-on-1 speaking diagnostics. Another 20% is spent designing drill sets, annotating Cambridge IELTS papers, and building vocabulary lists, while 15% goes to tracking student progress and scheduling.
Instruction and grading rely on Zoom, Google Meet, Miro, Google Classroom, Cambridge One, and Google Docs. Peak teaching hours fall heavily on evenings (17:00 to 22:00) and weekends when students and professionals are free. Remote tutors often work split shifts throughout the day to cater to learners across different time zones.
