What does the day look like?
You gather business and system requirements, analyse processes, select components and model APIs, and design an integrated architecture. The tools may include Python, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Linux, Docker, SQL, vector databases and MLOps pipelines, but there is no universal stack across employers.
Drawing systems and choosing models is real work, but no occupational study gives a reliable share of the day for it. The rest includes meetings, requirements discovery, risk and cost analysis, documentation, reviews, stakeholder negotiation and production troubleshooting. There is no occupation-wide evidence for standard hours or night shifts; responsibility for production systems can create employer-specific on-call duties.
