What does the day look like?
Your day is mostly turning sketches, measurements, and redline markups from a senior architect or engineer into clean technical drawings in AutoCAD, Revit, Archicad, or Vectorworks. The normal week is 37.5-40 hours. There is no night shift or on-call rotation, but evenings and weekends can happen before planning submissions or tender deadlines.
The part people imagine, such as 3D spatial modeling, creative layout drafting, presentation renders, or helping with a scale model, is about 15%-20% of the day. The other 80%-85% is redline revisions, door/window schedules, wall sections, electrical legends, layer and line-weight cleanup, XREFs, title blocks, PDF/DWG export, large-format plotting on HP DesignJet, sorting sheets into binders, and sometimes site measuring with a Leica DISTO.
