What does the day look like?
You work in the trade section of an embassy. About 10% of the day is the ceremonial part: receptions, meeting delegations, national pavilions. About 45% is desk work: pulling trade numbers from UN Comtrade, ITC Trade Map, stat.uz, Eurostat and Destatis, cleaning them in Excel pivot tables, writing market overviews, tariff updates and memos on regulatory barriers. About 45% is coordination: logging entries in Salesforce Government Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or the mission portal and SharePoint, managing the attache calendar, drafting formal letters and notes verbales to ministries, building meeting schedules between visiting firms and local buyers or state procurement bodies, arranging stands, registration lists and venues, screening trade enquiries over Microsoft Teams.
Hours are 09:00 to 18:00, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. There are no night shifts. Evening overtime happens during ministerial delegations, bilateral summits and annual expos.
