What does the day look like?
Work takes place during standard office hours, typically 37.5 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. There is no shift work, night work, or on-call rotation. Between 70% and 80% of the day consists of desk work: chasing department heads for monthly utility invoices, cleaning energy consumption data using Microsoft Excel, and entering figures into enterprise platforms like Watershed, Persefoni, Sweep, Sphera, Normative, Diligent ESG, Enablon, or Workiva. You also compile disclosures under CSRD, ESRS, SECR, and GRI frameworks, and update EcoVadis, Sedex, and CDP portals.
Only 20% to 30% of the working time involves interactive projects: coordinating internal office recycling drives, energy reduction initiatives, and presenting carbon dashboards via Microsoft PowerBI to executives. Travel occurs 1 to 2 days per month to inspect warehouses or manufacturing facilities. Overtime concentrates in Q1 and Q2 during annual external audit cycles.
