What does the day look like?
Around 70% of your time is spent reconciling budget spreadsheets, mitigating contract risks, tracking regulatory permits, and resolving vendor disputes. The remaining 30% involves visiting active project sites to inspect wind turbines, solar fields, and high-voltage substations. Daily tools include Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for scheduling, PVsyst, WindPRO, and AutoCAD for energy design and layouts, alongside SAP ERP, Procore, Aconex, and Microsoft Power BI for project controls.
During standard development phases, work runs 40 to 50 hours per week in an office. However, commissioning and high-voltage energization phases bring high on-call pressure, requiring 24/7 grid connection windows and testing.
