What does the day look like?
You spend 10% to 20% of total hours shooting and 80% to 90% on everything else. Pre-production is 30%: treatment decks and mood boards in Keynote or Adobe InDesign, meetings with creative directors, stylists, hair and make-up artists and booking agents, location scouting and permits. Shooting is 15%: directing models and crew with Phase One IQ4, Hasselblad H6D, Canon EOS R5, Sony Alpha 1, Profoto Pro-11, Broncolor Scoro and Briese reflectors, tethered capture in Capture One Pro on an Eizo ColorEdge display. Post-production is 30% in Capture One and Adobe Photoshop with contact sheets and retoucher rounds. Business is 25%: budgets, usage licensing, insurance, invoices and portfolio updates.
Shoot days run 10 to 14 hours, with 05:00 calls for sunrise and night shoots. Weekend and travel work across Milan, Paris, London and New York fashion weeks is routine in season.
