What does the day look like?
A standard workweek is 40 hours, running Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. There are no night shifts or on-call duties; overtime happens mainly during mass restructuring, collective bargaining negotiations, or court filing deadlines. About 85% to 90% of your time is spent on administrative document work: drafting standard employment contracts, severance agreements, termination notices, non-compete clauses, taking interview notes during workplace grievance investigations, and indexing exhibit bundles for employment tribunals.
Daily tools include legal research databases like LexisNexis, Westlaw, Practical Law, Wolters Kluwer, Juris, or LexUZ in Uzbekistan. You also work with HRIS platforms like SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, and BambooHR, contract management software like Ironclad, DocuSign CLM, Clio, and Relativity, and court electronic filing systems such as US CM/ECF or UK HMCTS CE-File. Only 10% to 15% of the role involves the more dramatic side of the job, such as attending tribunal hearings or high-stakes negotiation meetings alongside a supervising lawyer.
