What does the day look like?
Work follows a standard 40-hour schedule from Monday to Friday. Only 30% of your time is spent on hands-on exploitation and testing. The remaining 70% goes to writing technical audit reports, calculating CVSS scores, scoping rules of engagement, and walking clients through findings on debriefing calls.
Daily tools include Burp Suite Professional, Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit Pro, Nessus Professional, OWASP ZAP, sqlmap, BloodHound, Hashcat, and Kali Linux. Testing on sensitive banking or enterprise systems is often scheduled off-hours or during night and weekend maintenance windows, but emergency on-call shifts are rare.
