What does the day look like?
About 55% of your time is spent at a desk: reviewing daily and weekly revenue across 4 to 12 properties, auditing monthly P&L statements with general managers and financial controllers, approving CapEx budgets, and using systems like Opera Cloud, Amadeus Central Reservation System, IDeaS G3 RMS, Duetto GameChanger, SAP S/4HANA, STR Global reports, and Workday. Another 20% goes to quarterly meetings with REIT asset owners, handling executive labour disputes, and vendor negotiations.
Roughly 15% of your time is spent traveling across regional properties (often 2 to 3 days per week). What looks glamorous—dining on site, meeting VIPs, and touring suites—takes up only about 10% of the role. There are no routine night shifts, but you are on perpetual executive call for regional crises such as fires, strikes, health code failures, or security breaches.
