What does the day look like?
Work follows standard office hours, typically Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:30 or 09:00 to 18:00, with no night shifts or manual labour. The day begins with reviewing the daily pickup report to track bookings and cancellations over the past 24 hours across distribution channels. You update dynamic pricing rules in Property Management Systems (PMS) and Central Reservation Systems (CRS), calibrate demand curves in Revenue Management Systems (RMS) like IDeaS G3 RMS or Duetto, and manage Online Travel Agency (OTA) extranets such as Booking.com and Expedia Partner Central. Weekly commercial meetings involve presenting 30-60-90 day forecasts to the General Manager and sales directors.
Only 10% of the day involves setting headline rates or discussing luxury experiences; the remaining 90% is spent extracting data, modeling in Excel or SQL, auditing OTA price parity discrepancies, and fixing PMS-to-RMS mapping errors. Weekend on-call duties occasionally arise during citywide compression events to adjust room availability remotely from a laptop.
