What does the day look like?
A LiveOps Manager operates an already-released video game as an ongoing digital service. Daily tasks center on managing the live content calendar for tournaments and seasonal events, deploying balance changes and store bundles via remote configuration, running A/B experiments, and writing SQL queries across databases like Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift. Core metrics tracked across Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase Remote Config, PlayFab, Tableau, and Jira include DAU, MAU, retention cohorts, ARPDAU, and LTV.
Only 10% of the workday is spent playing the game to verify that store assets and event drops function in production. The remaining 90% is spent on data analysis, SQL scripting, configuring JSON parameters, cross-functional developer meetings, and updating roadmaps. While standard office hours run 40 hours per week (09:00 to 18:00), the job requires on-call duty during major seasonal launches, requiring emergency night or weekend logins if an economy exploit or server incident occurs.
