What does the day look like?
Your day is 4 to 8 separate homes, 30 to 45 minutes in each. In each visit you wash the person, help with toileting, change incontinence briefs, dress them, turn bedbound clients to prevent pressure ulcers, move them between bed, commode and wheelchair with Sara Stedy, Molift or ceiling track hoists and slide sheets, cook to renal, diabetic or low-sodium rules, feed clients with dysphagia, wash soiled linens and sanitize commode buckets. You do not inject, calculate doses or adjust drugs: you only prompt and check intake from dosette boxes or Pivotell dispensers. You scan the door QR code or NFC tag on arrival and departure and log fluids, bowel movements and skin condition in Birdie, PASS System, CareSuite, AlayaCare or Mobizio.
The shift is 8 hours, usually split as 07:00 to 11:00 and 16:30 to 20:30 with a 2 to 4 hours unpaid gap. Direct physical care is 65%, solo travel and cleaning 20%, electronic logs and handovers 15%. Conversation is not a separate task: 5 to 10 minutes of talk happens while you wash, turn and change the person. Nights are 8 to 10 hours of waking-night watch or lower-paid sleeping-night presence.
