What does the day look like?
A standard work week runs 40 to 45 hours (typically 09:00 to 18:00 or 19:00). The creative side — concept sketching and aesthetic design — takes only 15% of your time. The remaining 85% is production reality: redlining drawing sheets (40%), updating BIM families and fixing clash errors (20%), cleaning up CAD layers and schedules (15%), and assembling physical study models or material sample trays (10%).
Core tools include Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft Archicad, Autodesk AutoCAD, Vectorworks, McNeel Rhinoceros 3D, Grasshopper, SketchUp, rendering software like Chaos V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion, D5 Render, and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. You also handle laser distance meters, laser cutters, and 3D printers. Project deadlines and architectural competitions require overtime and weekend work, though formal night shifts and on-call duties do not exist.
