What does the day look like?
A standard working week runs 50 to 60 hours, often beginning at 07:00 with early morning site briefings. Around 20% of your time is spent on physical site inspections, walking the grounds to verify critical milestone delivery, investigate severe defect escalations, and perform executive safety audits. The job involves regular regional travel between project locations and occasional on-call duties for critical site incidents.
The remaining 80% of your work centers on commercial, financial, and executive management. You track portfolio financial health through Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and cash flow forecasting across concurrent schemes, negotiate with clients, procure subcontractors, and resolve contractual claims under standard frameworks like FIDIC, NEC4, JCT, or AIA. Daily operations rely on software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360, Revizto, Viewpoint, SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier, and Coins.
