What does the day look like?
A standard shift runs from 07:00 to 16:00 or 08:00 to 17:00, 5 to 6 days a week (40 to 48 hours per week). In the UAE, mandatory midday summer bans split the day into 05:00–12:00 and 16:00–19:00 shifts, while highway and retail fit-out projects frequently require night work.
Roughly 65 percent of your daily hours involve heavy physical tasks: hauling cement bags and cinder blocks, moving drywall and rebar, digging trenches, demolition, and sweeping silica dust. Another 20 percent is spent assisting master craftsmen by holding levels, steadying ladders, and rough-cutting materials. The remaining 15 percent is split between morning Toolbox Talks, donning PPE, cleaning tools, and safety checks. Tools used on site include jackhammers, power plate compactors, masonry demo saws, portable concrete mixers, and industrial pressure washers.
