What does the day look like?
You draw the future of a whole district: spatial vision documents, land-use frameworks, phasing and delivery strategies, capacity testing, design codes, stakeholder workshops, consultant-team coordination, and presentations to clients and approval authorities. Daily tools are AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), ArcGIS and QGIS, Lumion or Enscape for renders, Excel-based capacity models, and written design and access statements.
The glamorous part, sketching the new quarter, is a minority share of the day, rising in bursts around submissions. The majority is coordination, evidence, and approvals: redrafting layouts after traffic, environmental, heritage, cost, and client comments, tracking comment matrices, and aligning architects, landscape architects, engineers, economists, and lawyers on one phasing plan. Hours are office-based and daytime, with deadline peaks before submissions. No shift work, on-call, or night work is advertised for this role.
