What does the day look like?
You split your week between university lectures and supervised practice placements. Under a supervisor you carry an allocated caseload, run initial risk and needs assessments under child protection or adult safeguarding rules, chair multidisciplinary meetings, draft statutory court reports and case summaries, and visit homes and hospitals.
Your daily tools are case systems such as Liquidlogic (LCS, LAS), Servelec Mosaic or CareDirector, clinical portals SystmOne, EMIS Web and Rio, and standard tools including CAF, MCA assessments and Risk Assessment and Management Plans. Standard statutory work is 37 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. Emergency Duty Teams cover nights, weekends and on-call crisis work. About 25% of the time is face-to-face counselling and family contact, and 75% is files, legal paperwork, case notes on Liquidlogic, multi-agency conferences, court and supervision.
