What does the day look like?
From 08:30 to 10:00 you triage incoming referrals: crisis reports, hospital discharge notices, and Section 47 and Section 42 risk enquiries. You allocate them across a team of 6 to 12 social workers, assistants and admin staff by capacity and risk level. From 10:00 to 12:30 you hold 1-to-1 supervision: you review draft court statements, mental capacity assessments and care packages, challenge assessments, sign off high-cost placements and authorise statutory interventions.
From 12:30 to 14:30 you attend multi-agency meetings with police, NHS psychiatric consultants, housing officers and lawyers. From 14:30 to 16:30 you audit electronic files in Liquidlogic, Mosaic and SystmOne / EMIS Web, check visits happened within 10 to 45 working days, and track budgets and KPIs in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Teams. From 16:30 to 17:30 you handle complaints and staff wellbeing after distressing interventions. Direct client contact is 5% to 10% of the day, administration, supervision, audit and meetings are 90% to 95%. You work 37 hours to 40 hours per week, with rotational EDT on-call cover on weekends and overnight from 17:00 to 09:00.
