What does the day look like?
You work in a club media department. You log match footage and cut short highlight clips, write previews and reports for the club site and app, help with player and coach interviews by preparing questions, collecting release forms and transcribing quotes, run the matchday feed on X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, add subtitles and resize video in Adobe Premiere Pro, prepare stills and thumbnails in Adobe Photoshop, schedule posts in Meta Business Suite, upload to a club CMS such as WordPress, check facts and spelling against the club style guide, and file usage-rights paperwork for photos and music.
The pitch-side filming and interviewing you imagine is about 1/5 of the hours. The other 4/5 is desk work: clipping, captioning, transcribing, scheduling, tagging archives, and re-cutting 1 interview into versions for each platform. Hours follow the fixture list, not office hours: evenings, weekends and public holidays on matchdays, late finishes after evening games, travel to away fixtures, and on-call posting during transfer windows. O*NET reports time pressure as an everyday condition in this occupation.
