Pay in the destination countries
Monthly, in US dollars. Each country is an Imora admission package — open one for that route's fees, language requirement and deadline.
What does the day look like?
You work in a booth team of 2 or 3, rotating at intervals near 30 minutes. You interpret consecutively for 5 to 7 minutes per speech and simultaneously with text for about 10 minutes. Preparation means reading briefing papers, agendas, draft resolutions, slide decks and prior reports, building glossaries in InterpretBank, Interplex and Interpreters Help, and checking terminology banks. On mission you use the booth console, headset and microphone, relay systems where a pivot language feeds other booths, and remote simultaneous interpreting platforms with a 2nd audio channel and chat for handover.
Speaking in the booth at WTO, Davos or summit meetings is 30% to 40% of paid time on assignment days. The rest is preparation, team briefing, terminology alignment, travel, waiting between sessions, invoicing and client correspondence. Mission days often run 9 hours with early starts, late votes and evening receptions, plus on-call extensions when negotiations overrun and night work across time zones for remote assignments.
