What does the day look like?
Guest-visible leadership — floor presence, VIP recovery, showing up for your team — takes roughly 10–20% of a week at a large branded property. The majority is meetings, financial review, labour planning, brand audits, reporting to owners and asset managers, HR decisions, and compliance around fire safety, food hygiene, and liquor rules. A Marriott Hotel Manager posting covers Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, Engineering, F&B, Events, and Retail; executive-committee leadership; brand service strategy; revenue growth; wage and P&L control (including the "Wage Progress Report"); capital expenditure; guest satisfaction; hiring and annual appraisals; and daily property walk-throughs. You'll work in property management systems, Microsoft Office/Outlook/Excel, POS, and payroll tools; Opera PMS appears in Uzbekistan hotel ads but chains vary on revenue-management and CRM software. International full-service GMs often run roughly 150–400+ rooms plus F&B outlets. This is not a front-desk shift pattern, but you're reachable for escalations, and openings, understaffing, and peak seasons stretch evenings and weekends.
