What does the day look like?
In an office-based incoming or DMC role, most of your day is itineraries, pricing, and bookings: you build FIT or group tour plans, cost hotels, transfers, guides, and meals, send quotations to foreign agents, confirm reservations, and chase vouchers and invoices. Day-to-day tools named in live ads include Amadeus, Sabre, CETS, Umbrella, DaVinci, START Amadeus, plus CRM systems and spreadsheets. You email and chat with overseas partners and fix supplier failures and client complaints. Hours are usually weekday daytime, with overtime in peak season. You may occasionally meet a group on arrival.
If the role is an escort tour manager, the day is on your feet and long: escorting a coach or group, welcome meetings, check-ins, lost baggage, medical issues. You are on call 24 hours while on tour. Prospects.ac.uk puts roughly 70–90% of time with the group and the rest on admin between stops.
