What does the day look like?
Between 10% and 15% of your day is spent on mathematical modeling, statistical formulas, and coding. The remaining 85% to 90% is executive consulting: pitching to clients, issuing RFP proposals, negotiating master services agreements, selling insurance audit and M&A advisory work, managing teams, and reviewing compliance sign-offs.
Daily tools include projection platforms like Prophet (FIS), Mo.net, GGY AXIS, Moses, and RiskSpectrum, programming in Python, R, SAS, SQL, Radar (WTW), and Tyche, as well as Solvency II and IFRS 17 calculation engines, advanced Microsoft Excel with VBA, and SAP ERP. Workweeks run 50 to 70 hours, peaking during the January to April audit season and deal deadlines. There are no night shifts or physical on-call duties, but client travel and emergency weekend work occur during corporate acquisitions.
