What does the day look like?
You lead the whole dietetics service for an NHS trust. Your day is strategy, clinical leadership and operational performance: professional leadership of all dietitians, dietetic assistants, apprentices and students, budget and resource management, clinical governance, audit, service evaluation and research oversight, staff supervision, training and mentorship, plus joint work with multidisciplinary teams across acute and community settings.
At Great Ormond Street the role also oversees a Special Feeds Unit and Diet Kitchen. Direct patient care is a minority: a 0.2 WTE clinical commitment means roughly 4 days in 5 are leadership, finance, governance and board-facing reporting. The Royal Devon post is contracted at 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with no nights or on-call stated. The named tools are not software brands: the HCPC standards of proficiency, national clinical guidelines, nutrition screening and care-planning protocols, electronic patient records, and audit and service-evaluation systems.
