What does the day look like?
As a creative director, your day runs in an agency or in-house brand office — no night shifts or on-call rotation, but weeks often exceed 40 hours before pitches and campaign launches. Face-to-face meetings and email are daily; most of the day is seated work under constant deadline pressure.
Roughly one-third goes to client pitches and senior reviews, one-third to directing art directors, designers and copywriters and giving feedback, and one-third to budgets, schedules, internal politics and admin. Actually making the ad is a minority at this level — you set and defend the creative vision for campaigns and brand platforms, lead brainstorms, review and approve layouts, copy, motion and proofs, and present to clients and leadership. Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Maya and presentation decks are the everyday tools.
