What does the day look like?
You spend the day in the fashion house studio. You set the vision for womenswear, menswear, leather goods and accessories for the season, and you approve fabrics, colours, silhouettes and prototypes in fittings with pattern-makers and the atelier. You direct runway shows, look-book and campaign shoots: casting, styling, set design and post-production. You sign off photography, film and digital content against the brand identity, review store and visual-merchandising concepts, manage budgets, calendars and a team of designers, stylists and image staff, and present the collection to press and buyers.
You work in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, with pattern and collection-management systems in production, plus draping stands, industrial sewing and knit machinery, and fabric archives in the atelier. The runway is a small visible share. Most of the year is studio management, fittings, supplier meetings, budget decisions, repeat approvals and travel between Paris, Milan, London and New York. Before fashion weeks and campaign deadlines days run long, with night fittings and weekend work.
