What does the day look like?
You greet people as they walk in, check the fit, run to the backroom for the right size, and put full outfits together. At the till you scan barcodes, apply discounts, take card and cash, and fill in tax-free forms for tourists in Cegid Retail, Shopify POS, Lightspeed Retail, or Oracle Retail Xstore POS. Morning deliveries mean opening boxes, checking items against packing slips, attaching Sensormatic EAS tags, steaming garments with a Jiffy Steamer, and hanging or folding to the display guide. You count stock with Zebra handheld RFID and barcode scanners, SAP Retail, and Cegid Y2, clear fitting rooms, refold tables, and wipe vitrines.
About 20% to 30% of the day is fashion talk, styling, and customers. The other 70% to 80% is physical and till work: standing for 7 to 8 hours, carrying boxes, steaming, folding, re-hanging, cleaning, counting, and processing payments. Stores run about 10:00 to 22:00 in malls and 10:00 to 19:00 or 20:00 on high streets. Saturday and Sunday are peak days, and holidays are workdays. Some shifts start at 07:00 or 08:00 for deliveries, some finish 1 to 2 hours after closing for cash reconciliation and floor recovery. There is no on-call duty, with overtime during Black Friday, New Year, and summer sales.
