What does the day look like?
Around 35% of your day is spent on month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, and currency revaluations. Another 25% goes to reviewing and signing off on corporate income tax, VAT, and payroll taxes. The rest is split between coordinating statutory audits (15%), authorizing bank releases and internal controls (15%), and supervising a team of 3 to 15 accountants (10%). Daily tools include 1C:Enterprise (1C:Buxgalteriya 8.3 / 1C:ERP), SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, advanced Microsoft Excel (Power Query, XLOOKUP), Power BI, and national tax portals like my.soliq.uz, HMRC, or ELSTER.
Simple math and checking receipts make up only 15% of the role. The remaining 85% is interpreting tax codes, enforcing compliance across departments, troubleshooting ERP errors, and bearing direct legal liability for financial filings. Standard hours are 40 hours per week (09:00–18:00, Monday to Friday). However, hours spike to 55–65 hours per week during monthly closes (days 1 to 7) and annual tax/audit season (January through April), requiring occasional weekend work.
