What does the day look like?
The standard working week is 37.5 hours (typically Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00). Direct interaction with children and families takes up only 20% to 30% of your time: administering standardized test batteries like WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, Vineland-3, Conners 4, SDQ, and RCADS, taking notes during ADOS-2 sessions, tracking classroom behaviour on ABC charts, and co-facilitating psychoeducational groups.
The largest share of the week, 50% to 60%, is spent on administration and documentation: scoring test protocols, logging session notes into EHR platforms such as SystmOne, Rio, CareNotes, or Epic, drafting developmental histories, and liaising with schools. The remaining 15% to 20% goes to multidisciplinary team meetings, service audits, and 1 hour of mandatory weekly clinical supervision with a registered psychologist. There is no shift work, no night duty, and no on-call emergency responsibility.
