What does the day look like?
You work 37 to 40 hours a week. Only 25% to 35% of the day is face-to-face time with families, counselling and direct help. The other 65% to 75% is files and legal work: statutory case records, Section 47 inquiry reports, court witness statements and multi-agency safeguarding logs on Liquidlogic, Mosaic, CareFirst or Epic Systems.
You run formal risk assessments, attend safeguarding meetings and child protection case conferences, and appear in court hearings with judges, police officers, pediatricians and legal guardians. The rota includes 24-hour on-call standby and Emergency Duty Teams (EDT) for urgent removals, domestic crises or emergency mental health detentions, including nights.
