What does the day look like?
On the science and coaching track you set up and deliver sessions under a senior coach, supervise warm-up and cool-down, assist testing with timing gates, jump mats, heart-rate belts and GPS vests, enter and clean data in Excel and Google Sheets, clip and tag video in Hudl Sportscode and Nacsport, prepare kit and venues, keep attendance and safeguarding paperwork, and cover evening and weekend fixtures. Junior postings name Catapult Vector and Polar Team Pro for load tracking, Brower Timing Systems and Optojump for testing, and VALD ForceDecks where a lab has them. Elite pitch-side tactics work is under 20% of paid hours at entry level, and the rest is preparation, data hygiene, customer service and compliance paperwork.
On the management track the day is ticketing support in Ticketmaster or Eventim, membership database updates in Salesforce or HubSpot, sponsor asset tracking, matchday operations checklists, social channel scheduling, and invoice chasing. Coaching, analysis and operations posts routinely require evenings, weekends and travel to fixtures. University technician posts are closer to daytime hours during term, with peaks around testing weeks and competitions. Matchday operations staff work when matches are played, including public holidays.
