What does the day look like?
Your day starts with tickets level 1 could not close. You review the queue in Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, Zendesk or Freshdesk, reproduce the fault, read logs in Datadog, Grafana, Splunk or CloudWatch, check customer data with SQL read queries, test APIs with Postman or curl, and join remote sessions over Remote Desktop or TeamViewer. Then you write a handover to engineering with steps to reproduce, log excerpts and affected accounts, and update docs in Confluence.
On product teams clever debugging is about 40% of the time. The rest is queue hygiene, status updates, SLA tracking, knowledge base edits and customer calls. Hours follow the customer: rotating shifts, weekend coverage and on-call standby for severity incidents, including night alerts where the employer sells around the clock support. Remote level 2 staff work the employer's time zone, not their own.
